The Effect of Gas Type on Beam Scatter

Different gases introduced into the SEM chamber will cause different amounts of scatter. The gas type is indicated in the upper left corner of each model. The value in the upper right corner is the effective beam diameter in microns. A value of 0 indicates essentially no beam scatter.

All four models were run at 1 TORR chamber pressure and 15mm working distance with an accelerating voltage of 20 kV.
